Lucy Lo Rasche is an artist originally hailing from Shanghai who currently lives in Zurich, Switzerland. Her original training and passion - Chinese ink painting - continues to influence her current work, which focuses on oil painting. As a student of the Chinese master of abstract ink painting, Cao Yong Ping, expressive, choreographic brushwork have become part of her nature. The Chinese philosophy of "You Xu You Shi" (the harmony of abstraction and realism) is palpable. Another important influence on Lucy’s art has been her study with renowned expressionist Ewa Gargulinska.
Lucy's works are rooted in her life's journey in various cultural environments and her exploration of human relationships with self, the seen und the unseen. Her paintings are expressive, full of emotion and compassion in their transcendence of the outer form to reveal the inner world of the artist, often in a dreamlike representation.
